Fish And Fowl

September 23, 2014  •  26 Comments

This was the first time I'd seen vultures in water like this. These Black Vultures had found themselves a dead fish. The vulture on the left is standing on the rather large carcass. During the half hour I watched them there was a lot of posturing, wing flapping, jockeying for position, and general drama. The "one at a time" method was taking too long for those with dinner reservations. Other vultures were waiting in nearby treetops.

What a terrific series of shots!! As a person who won't touch fish, I am not too sure about their good judgement here. They are fascinating birds, however.

Great shots! Looks like something out of a sci-fi movie..I'm thinking Lord of the Rings type creatures. They have such sinister faces.

Okay call me crazy but I really think these birds are quite handsome. You got some amazing shots of them. I think my favorite one was #5. Loved the spread wings on the middle bird.
