On A Stick: Doubles

February 21, 2015  •  11 Comments

These are the first doubles I've had for my On A Stick project. While neither of these species is among my favorites, I was out in 15 degree (F) weather and 12" of snow so two birds are two birds regardless of my feelings about them. In case you aren't familiar with these menaces, the first two are House Sparrows and the second pair are European Starlings. Unfortunately, we have both in rather large numbers and the hawks have been unsuccessful at thinning the populations.

We have lots of house sparrows and starlings here in Oregon as well. I would never have gone out in that weather, so you are very dedicated. Of course, I am 62 and do not want to break anything in a fall!
