Staking A Claim

September 08, 2015  •  13 Comments

We don't get the "swarms" of hummingbirds like some people. Normally, we don't even see hummingbirds until mid-July. When they finally show up, it's usually one at a time. This juvenile male has recently staked a claim to the feeders. With no adult males around he's free to chase off other juveniles and females who come in for a drink.

He's a beauty for sure. - I've seen a few hummingbirds this year but they never land long enough for me to get photos. You got some fabulous shots of this one.
