Warming Stones

May 22, 2016  •  13 Comments

While walking out of the garage recently I noticed this garter snake hanging out on the wall. The stones on the far left of the photo are part of the house. The stones on the right are part of a wall that runs the length of the driveway. It had dropped into the 40's (Fahrenheit) the night before and this smart snake had crawled into the narrow gap between the house and the wall to find a spot in the morning sun to warm itself.

Wow that's a pretty big Garter Snake. Good thing they aren't poisonous. He looks cool.
I would have been scare to click it.
Well captured.

Gorgeous shot!
Nice capture, Brian. I love how he's positioned -- coiled and looking at you. That being said…better you than me encountering this guy!
