Pileated Part I

After hearing Pileated Woodpeckers on the property for several months, this one finally showed itself one day right before a storm. He started off along the fence line checking all the posts, then moved to the woodpile, and finally into the yard.

You sure got some great close ups! Years ago, before I knew what it was, I called it a jungle bird! It makes quite a sound in the woods!
