Bringing Spring

March 08, 2021  •  6 Comments

Grackles usually begin showing up here in late February and this year was no exception. They, along with red-winged blackbirds, are a good indicator that warm weather is getting close. Robins generally get the credit for announcing the arrival of spring, but grackles and blackbirds perform the job quite well. The grackles will breed, nest, and raise their young here before disappearing again in late summer.

What a lovely bird! I wish we had them here. I didn't know that they foretold springs arrival.

Your link is a welcome addition to My Corner of the World' this week!
